The Encore Consignment Guide

Modern. Transparent. Professional.

Welcome to the new Encore Shoppe & Gallery. We have updated our process to provide a professional, transparent experience for our consignors and a curated gallery for our shoppers. By combining local expertise with real-time digital tracking, we ensure your treasures find their next home quickly and fairly.

The Three Pillars of the Encore Experience

1. Real-Time Transparency Gone are the days of wondering if your items sold. Every Encore consignor receives Online Consignor Access. View your inventory, track your sales, and monitor expiration dates 24/7 from any device. We put the power of information in your hands.

2. Market-Driven Results We don’t just "list" items; we sell them. To ensure a successful 90-day turnaround, we price according to current market demand and local buyer trends. Our goal is to get you your payout, not to let your items sit on a shelf.

3. Curated Standards Our shoppers visit us because they know they’ll find the best in Grand Junction. We maintain strict Acceptance Criteria for condition and style. This high standard protects the "Gallery" feel of our shop and ensures that the items we accept are positioned to sell at top speed.

How It Works: Our Process

Step 1: The Drop-Off

Bring in your clean, sellable items. We review every piece against our current floor needs and quality standards.

Step 2: The 24-Hour Rule

If we cannot accept certain items for consignment, they must be picked up within 24 hours of drop-off (if you requested returns). Items not retrieved within this window are immediately donated to keep our intake area organized.

Step 3: The 90-Day Floor Term

Your items get 90 days of prime floor space. We use a strategic markdown schedule to keep interest high and facilitate a sale. Consignors earn 40% of net sales (and 50% for items selling over $100).

Step 4: Pick-Up

If an item hasn't sold after 90 days, you have a 5-day grace period to retrieve it. Per our contract, items not retrieved within this window are considered abandoned, and title transfers to the shop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why was my item priced lower than I expected?

At Encore, we distinguish between "sentimental value" and "market value." The resale market is driven by what today’s shoppers are willing to pay. We price to move inventory, ensuring you get a payout rather than an unsold item back.

Do you notify me when my items expire?

Because we process hundreds of items weekly, we provide Online Consignor Access so you can monitor your own expiration dates. We rely on our consignors to track their 90-day window and 5-day grace period via the portal.

Why weren’t my items accepted for consignment?

At Encore Shoppe & Gallery, we appreciate every item brought to us. However, to maintain our high standards and ensure the best results for our consignors, we are highly selective. If we pass on an item, it is usually due to one of the following reasons:

  • Current Market Demand: Resale trends change quickly. We track what is currently selling in Grand Junction, and we may pass on items that our shoppers are not currently looking for, even if they are high-quality.
  • Inventory Capacity: Because we rotate our floor every 90 days, we have limited space. If our "Gallery" is currently overstocked in a certain category (like glassware or wall art), we may pause acceptance of those items until our current inventory sells.
  • Condition Standards: To ensure a "boutique" experience, we only accept items in sellable condition. Per our contract, items must be:
    • Deep Cleaned: Free of dust, stains, and pet hair.
    • Scent-Free: Free of odors such as smoke, mothballs, or pet scents.
    • Fully Functional: No chips, cracks, broken hardware, or excessive pilling.
    • Authenticity: We take brand integrity seriously. We only accept items that we can verify as 100% authentic and genuine.
